The drive
I-88 west to Route 28 south, 90 minutes to downtown Cooperstown. There is no train or bus that makes this easy; you need a car. In peak summer, park at the trolley lots on Route 28 or Glimmerglass ($5 all day) and take the free trolley into town, because Main Street parking fills by 10am.
Hall of Fame and beyond
The National Baseball Hall of Fame on Main Street: $28 adults, $17 kids, $23 seniors. Budget three hours minimum. The Fenimore Art Museum on Lake Road, $14, has an underrated American folk art collection and the Thaw Collection of Native American art.
