Bethlehem (which includes Delmar, Slingerlands, and Glenmont) is where families visiting Albany-area schools or Bethlehem Central Schools tend to book. The Fairfield Inn on Route 9W in Glenmont and the Delmar area rentals give you quiet streets, easy parking, and a straight 10-minute drive up 9W or Delaware Avenue into Downtown Albany. It suits business travelers with meetings at Selkirk yards, families visiting Bethlehem-area colleges, and anyone who wants a suburban base without the strip-mall feel of Wolf Road.
Who it doesn’t suit
There is very little walkable nightlife or dining — Four Corners in Delmar has a handful of restaurants but everything closes early. Bethlehem is genuinely suburban, so skip it if you want to walk to bars, catch a show without driving, or experience Albany city life. Rideshare availability is thinner here than in the city, especially late at night; leaving a Downtown show at 11 p.m. can mean a 15-minute wait for a car.
