You can absolutely sleep in Albany for under $100 — here are 6 that are actually acceptable, and 3 to avoid.

The honest budget picks

Red Roof Inn Albany Airport at $75 to $85 is the reliable pick — pet-friendly, decent beds, and airport-adjacent. Motel 6 Albany Airport is $70 and shows its age but is safe. Super 8 Latham runs $80 and is quieter than the airport strip. In the city itself, the older Hampton Inn on Wolf Road drops to $95 midweek in winter and is comfortably the best sub-$100 option overall. Cross-river in Rensselaer, Rodeway Inn runs $65 but you get what you pay for.

What to avoid

Skip the older motels along Central Avenue between Everett Road and Colvin Avenue — the price is right at $55 to $70 but the surrounding blocks feel rough at night and reviews mention insects and noise more often than they should. The Skyway Motel and similar dated properties in the Watervliet Avenue Extension area are also worth passing on. If your budget is genuinely $70, pay the extra $10 for Motel 6 airport or Rodeway in Rensselaer.

No — Albany doesn’t have a hostel. The cheapest legitimate options are the airport-strip budget chains at $65 to $85.
