The Schuyler Mansion punches well above its size thanks to Hamilton — this is literally where he married into one of America's most powerful families. Tours are guided only, run every hour on the hour, and last 45 minutes. Guides lean hard into the Hamilton connection but also cover the harder history: the Schuyler family enslaved at least 13 people at this house, and the current interpretation directly addresses their lives, which makes it a more honest visit than most Federal-era house museums.
Book by phone or just arrive 15 minutes before a tour time — groups are capped at 12. The house is on a quiet residential street in the Pastures Historic District, a 10-minute walk south of downtown; combine it with a walk through the neighborhood's Federal row houses. Not wheelchair accessible on the upper floors due to original 1760s stairs, but the ground floor and gardens are accessible.
