Who it suits
Book here in early May and you are 60 seconds from the Tulip Festival main stage; the rest of the year you get a park view, morning runs on the loop road, and a 10-minute walk to Lark Street for dinner. State Street, Willett Street, and Madison Place have handsome 19th-century townhomes converted to Airbnbs and small B&Bs. The Morgan State House on Englewood Place is the one proper inn on the park, and it sits right across from the tulip beds and the King Fountain.
Who it doesn’t suit
There is no chain hotel option, no on-site parking at most rentals, and no supermarket within walking distance — the closest full grocery is Honest Weight up on Watervliet Avenue. Business travelers with meetings at Harriman Campus or in Colonie will spend 15-20 minutes driving each way. And during Tulip Fest weekend (usually Mother's Day), expect street closures, festival noise until 8 p.m., and minimum-stay requirements at every rental.
